cable hat

I had a hard time capturing the true color on this one, the top picture is closest. It's really a true, darker, purple.

This was right after blocking, still wet.

And these two show the detail better, though they were both taken before blocking.

This is the colorway I used. Scrumpcious Malabrigo merino! It's called Purple Mystery.

This one is for ME! A girlfriend gave me some yarn for Christmas, so I actually knit something for myself.

Frogging

I just frogged 4 inches of knit cable work. Ack!!

But I've learned something. This cable work is the basis for the whole hat, it's all the way around a hat rather than just a cute addition to one particular area. It tightens up more than ribbing, and stretches less. So I have to cast on even more than I should according to my usual gauge.

I'm a bit bummed over it. I was nearly to the decreases on this hat! But I'm still in love with this hat, and the way this yarn compliments it. I just cast on with the adjusted amount. Cables here I come.

Christmas gifts

Is it me, or does blogger never, ever, upload pictures in the order you put them in? Anyhoo, this is a collection of stuff all going in a Christmas package for my girlfriend and her family.I'm being lazy and not getting it all in the right order.

Tiny newborn flannel lounge pants and a matching hat.

A smiley baby toy and some Christmas ornaments, the white and green on top are trees standing up.

Flannel lounge pants for the big sis.

Flannel lounge pants for the big brother.

The detail on big sis's cuffs.

I put tags in with the same fabric so they can find the backs.

Recycled wool pants for the baby.

I took a picture of these two just because I felt like it. I plan to make a handbag with these for another friend that loves patriotic stuff. The print will be outside, lined with the red, and inner pockets in the print. This is a pipe dream at this poing because I'm out of detergent and can't even start prewashing.

Back to the in utero babe, some washies, a nursery rhyme flannel print, backed with cotton velour. Soft and yummy. Same kind I took to the previously mentioned baby shower.

Taggie was a hit :-)

The taggie was a hit at the baby shower! On the way out I happened to spy some cotton velour on top in my craft room when I went in for a gift bag. Every baby deserves some cotton velour rubbed on their precious new skin. I found some coordinating flannel quickly enough and made him 4 9x9 washies to go with his brand new taggie blanket. His momma had to pet and pet it before handing it over for everyone else to see. :)

Taggies!

One taggie blanket is for an expecting girlfriend, and the other is for a baby shower, both have baby boys. :) The colors are teal and chartreuse. The fabric is the cheaper faux crushed velvet, soft and yummy!
